Beach Cities Medicine

David H. Wallis, MD

Family Medicine & Sports Medicine is located in Redondo Beach, CA

Conveniently located to serve Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach as well as El Segundo, Torrance, and the Palos Verdes Peninsula

In order to allow Dr. Wallis and our team to provide personalized, responsive, and thorough patient-centric healthcare, our practice charges an annual fee to all members. This is commonly known as “concierge medicine,” or “personalized medical care.”

This allows us to not be completely beholden to the standard volume-based insurance model, with all its pitfalls. Annual fees supplement insurance payments to cover our overhead, giving us more time to serve each member and be more available when medical attention is needed.

In contrast to most concierge medicine practices, we do not have a one-size-fits-all pricing model. As people age, their medical problems generally increase in complexity. This requires more in-depth medical care, coordination of specialists, and being available for unforeseen circumstances, all of which take more time. We believe it to be most fair to everyone that our annual fees would likewise increase with age. Please contact our office for an updated schedule of pricing for your age.

As the Beach Cities Medicine family loves taking care of other families, we also offer a 25% discount to immediate family members. If one of our members has dependents in the same household, any younger members receive a 25% discount on their annual fees.

Annual Membership Fees

For our annual membership fees, we accept checks or electronic payments via QuickBooks. We also accept credit card payments (VISA, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) with a 3% service fee, if that is your preferred method of payment.

As we are unable to give legal or accounting advice, we encourage you to check with your financial advisor regarding use of FSAs and HSAs for payment of annual membership fees.

If you choose to leave Beach Cities Medicine for any reason—moving locations, financial struggles, death, or simply wishing to transfer to another provider—we will refund the pro-rated portion of your annual fees upon request.

Medical Service Fees

While many concierge medicine practices do not take insurance, we are happy to be contracted providers for Medicare, as well as most major PPO insurances. As such, once your annual membership fee is paid for, the rest of your financial obligations (copays, deductibles, etc.) should be the same as anyplace else you would be seen.

For these services, we are in-network with most major PPOs:

  • Medicare
  • Anthem Blue Cross PPO
  • Blue Shield PPO
  • United Healthcare PPO
  • Aetna PPO/Aetna Other Senior
  • Cigna PPO
  • HealthNet PPO

We also accept cash payments. Note that we are not contracted with any HMO healthcare programs.

We may refer you to specialists as part of your treatment process. These specialists have their own insurance and financial policies. When a referral is necessary, we will help you find a specialist who accepts your health insurance.
